Radical Collaboration

Radical Collaboration: What does it mean?

_

Every agency is collaborative, and every agency is your partner. It almost goes without saying. You have meetings, you go back and forth, you work together. Everyone cares deeply about the work and the end goal. Sometimes it goes smoothly, sometimes there may be friction. Maybe there is a process and project management system that makes things run. This is life between a service provider and their client.

At Leap_year we spend a lot of time thinking about and disrupting this traditional model of “collaboration” that is usually just another way of saying “doing work together”.

We practice what we call Radical Collaboration. So how is it different from regular old collaboration?

  1. Radical collaboration lets everybody in.

While we do love fancy presentations, we share work early and often. You see our working files. You see our process and you’re part of it.

  2. Radical collaboration means working meetings.

We make design revisions and workshop copy during meetings, reducing the need for follow ups and long to do lists.

  3. Radical collaboration offers structure and leadership.

Collaboration can be ineffective when there’s a void of leadership. We listen deeply to take in your challenges and opportunities. We take on your business goals as our own, recommend the highest leverage actions, and walk you through them.

  4. Radical collaboration is strategically timed.

There can be such a thing as too much collaboration. Part of effective collaboration is in choosing the right key moments to work together for the best and most efficient outcomes.

  5. Radical collaboration means a culture of radical humanity.

We cultivate a culture where everyone is worthy no matter what. This reduces ego about creative work and “success” and lets us share leadership, share responsibility, and pass tasks around without attachment or hard feelings.

Radical collaboration is about preservation of resources. Not wasting clients’ time. And getting the thing done that they need, so they can go out and get more leads, make more sales, grow their business, and reach their goals.

If you’re an agency, try this! If you’re a company, ask your agency for radical collaboration. It’s a win win for everybody.
